Restoration of The Grove

We bought the Grove on September 3rd, 2007. Since then we have been busy restoring this beautiful property, its original outbuildings and gardens.

The property was previously a derelict country house which had been left empty for 8 years. When we bought the property, the roof was not watertight, all the windows were rotten, the grounds and gardens were overgrown. Further, our outbuildings were being used as temporary woodstores and the cottages were almost uninhabitable.

Over the last 2 years, we have worked tirelessly to restore the property with the help of a large number of local tradesmen and craftwork specialists. Many of those who started the project are now retained by The Grove for ongoing maintenance of the property. Every element of the property internally and externally including the extensive grounds have undergone significant restoration work.

The slide shows opposite attempt to give you a glimpse of some of the challenges and of course all the hard work that has been put into restoring this truly special place. At times, particularly during the financial crisis we felt it might never be completed, but somehow we got there!

We would like to thank all the construction team, suppliers, RBS and the Welsh Assembly Government for their support in making this possible. We look forward to continue working with all of you in the future. A special thank you must also go to our friends and family who continued to believe in this project even when our heads were down. Without that support this wouldn’t have been completed.

We hope to see you at The Grove soon.
